Ales for ALS™ is a national partnership between the best hop growers and breweries to raise awareness of ALS and crucial funding into discovering and developing effective treatments and cures. It was inspired by Scott Hanses of Yakima, WA, whose family has witnessed ALS for generations, and Corey Reich of San Francisco, CA, who was diagnosed with ALS at age 21. Since its formation in 2012, Ales for ALS brewers have sold tens of thousands of pints as part of the campaign and brought awareness to ALS into tap rooms in nearly 40 US states.
Some of America's top brew masters gather each year at Loftus Ranches to select the exclusive blend of hops to be used in the Ales for ALS brew. This proprietary blend, distributed by Hop Union, is only available to brewers in the program. Each brewer develops their own recipe and creates some of the most unique brews available in the craft beer industry between the months of June and August. More than 150 brewers have taken part in the campaign to date, including award winning brewers Russian River, Sam Adams and Bell's Brewing.
An ALS.net Global Affiliate, Ales for ALS brings the "ALS research" message to tens of thousands of people each year in a unique way. Ales for ALS has created real excitement in the craft brew world and has grown each year to meet the mounting interest in the craft beer world to be part of this program.
